Formed in Reykjavík in 1995, Sólstafir (Icelandic for \"crepuscular rays\") evolved from raw Viking black metal into a unique, cinematic sound of haunting vocals, desolate guitars and melancholic beauty inspired by Iceland's vast landscapes and old Norse heritage, with acclaimed albums like Köld, Svartir Sandar and Ótta. The patch is a portrait rectangle format with a bold dark black merrowed outer border. The background is filled entirely with bold dark black embroidery. The design: Upper logo zone: the distinctive lowercase \"sólstafir\" logo spans the top of the patch – rendered in white satin-fill embroidery with tall, thin, jagged letterforms covered in small thorn- and branch-like spikes for a weathered, frozen look. Central stave symbol: below the logo sits a large white Icelandic galdrastafur (magical rune stave) – a circular sigil made of concentric rings around a diamond centre, with eight radiating arms ending in forked tips and small star-like snowflake nodes, stitched in fine white chain-stitch embroidery.
